BUYING AND USING GUITARS & AMPLIFIERS
As far as possible, depending on ability, I will teach a pupil the music that they want to learn – usually this is what they know and like, however I also introduce pupils to new music, expanding to teach a range of musical varieties over time, giving broad coverage of different styles. Popular styles include rock, pop, blues, jazz, folk and classical.

GUITAR BOOKS
I will make suggestions for what books can be used in lessons, however two useful reference books that contain a history of the instrument, sections on theory and general technical advice are:
“THE GUITAR HANDBOOK” by RALPH DENYER published by PAN BOOKS ISBN 0330267884
“THE COMPLETE GUITARIST” by RICHARD CHAPMAN published by DORLING KINDERSLEY ISBN 0751300154X
A useful book for starting to read conventional notation and general advice about classical techniques:
“FIRST BOOK FOR CLASSICAL GUITAR” by FEDERICK NOAD published by HAL LEONARD

Dave is a great teacher... The lessons are very relaxed and tailored to your own ability and preferences. I appreciate the variety of styles in the tunes that I have been taught and I always look forward to my lessons.
